Dr. Laura has obtained a PhD in counseling, a master’s degree in counseling, and a bachelor's
degree in educational psychology. She completed a post-graduate program in sex therapy at
the Colorado School for Family Therapy.

Professional Experience
Dr. Laura has provided professional counseling since 1996. She began her career providing general
biofeedback and stress and pain management counseling in the area of chronic pain, anxiety, and
health psychology. Dr. Laura has worked at the following: inpatient psychiatric and addition
hospitals, private practice settings, hospital emergency rooms and government human services/
child welfare. She has extensive experience conducting comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments
and providing crisis intervention for various metro Atlanta medical hospitals, a women’s health and
eating disorder program, a county rape crisis center, jails/youth detention centers, psychiatric and
addiction hospitals, public schools, and public housing authorities. Dr. Laura has provided
counseling services to the following populations: individuals, couples, families, groups, children,
adolescents, adults, geriatric, psychiatric and addiction clients, impaired professionals, and eating
disorders. She volunteered at a cancer support program within a medical hospital for five years and
has led various marriage and parenting groups with her husband. Additionally, she has provided
consulting, program planning, and evaluation services for various social service agencies, state and
federal grant coordination, and research for a county human services department. Dr. Laura
currently directs a women's health counseling practice centered upon assisting women and couples
on their path towards emotional, physical, relational, and sexual health.

Dr. Laura personally encountered chronic vulvodynia, vestibulodynia, and interstitial cystitis for
seven years and during her marriage and pregnancies. She is blessed to have three healthy
children. It is Dr. Laura's passion to offer other women and/or couples hope and compassion in
dealing with chronic health conditions.
Dr. Laura's passion in counseling women with cancer or terminal illnesses comes from her
personal experience with several women in her family encountering breast cancer. Dr. Laura's
mother had stage two breast cancer when she was in her twenties and had stage four breast cancer
in her fifties. Her optimistic mother outlived negative assumptions over her life and had no traces
of cancer throughout her body for several years. Dr. Laura's mother has been deceased since 2004.
